Meet your instructor. Dorothy Ruñez offers private art instruction to individuals of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced. She passionately believes in the transformative power of art for people of all ages, abilities, and disabilities. She provides personalized guidance and attention, fostering creative self-expression in a supportive, nurturing environment that encourages everyone to experience the joys of art and develop their own artistic voice. She aims to inspire and empower others to explore their creativity and unlock their artistic potential.
Ruñez understands that art can be a profound tool for personal growth, self-expression, and healing. It offers a multitude of benefits that extend beyond the mere act of creating. It helps build confidence, keen observation, enhances imagination and fine motor skills, improves mental health, communication skills, relationship building, develops aesthetic awareness, problem solving skills, engages the senses, increases emotional intelligence, and so much more.
Her multidisciplinary art background enables her students to explore various artistic disciplines and materials, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, monotype, collage and mixed media. Students will explore different techniques and experiment with various artistic styles and approaches. She believes in the importance of learning and understanding the fundamentals of art to equip students with a strong foundation for many years of success. Lessons will also incorporate art history and inspiration from artists of different art movements as a fantastic way to learn and develop artistic skills. The incorporation of art history enriches the learning process, offering a more comprehensive approach to creativity and fostering a deeper understanding of the artistic journey.

Fees
Lessons will be conducted at the artist studio located near Slidell/ Pearl River, LA area or at the convenience of your own home to local residences at no extra charge. For areas outside Slidell and Pearl River, LA, there will be an additional fee*. Payment for the entire month of private lessons (4 lessons per month) is due prior to the first lesson of the month.

Cancellations, Absences and Make-Ups
There is a 48 hour cancellation policy: lessons must be cancelled at least 48 hours in advance to receive credit.
If you cancel within 48 hours or you do not show up for your lesson, you are still charged for that time. There is no reimbursement or refund for missed lessons due to a student’s absence and does not guarantee a make-up lesson.
If a lesson is missed due to the instructor's absence, a make-up lesson will be scheduled.
